THE STORYS
The Storys are a six-piece band from
SOUTH WALES who formed in Spring 2003. Their main influencea are1970s U.S. West
Coast country rock bands The group features four singer-songwriters all taking
lead vocals on different songs. Over thirty songs were recorded, with eleven
eventually chosen for their debut album. The Storys then decided to put out the
album themselves, so they set up their own label, Hall Recordings, before
signing a record deal with Warner Bros./Korova.
Their first gig was to over seventy thousand people at The Olympic Torch Concert
outside Buckingham Palace, and was soon followed by a support slot with Tom
Jones and a series of gigs in venues such as Bush Hall and The Borderline. More
recently, the band have been on tour supporting Elton John. [1]

JOE LEAN AND THE JING JANG
JONG
+ Beggars
+ The Voluntary Butler Scheme
Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong played their
first gig in January 2007 and released debut single Lucio Starts Fireson Young
and Lost Club Records on October 8th 200. Their sound has been described as
being 'corporate indie'. With nods to the Libertines and the bands that have
folowed them musically and lyrically. A major stylistic departure from the ‘60’s
girl group and pop stylings of leader Joe Beaumont’s previous band the Pipettes.
In 2007 they supported Babyshambles, CSS and Kaiser Chiefs, and completed their
first headlining tour across the UK in December 2007. In 2008 they supported The
Cribs on the 2008 NME Awards Tour, and played at the SXSW music festival in
Austin Texas. The band were placed number 7 on the BBC’s ‘Sound of 2008’ poll.

HERCULES AND LOVE AFFAIR
Hercules & Love Affair is
essentially New York producer/DJ Andrew Butler. His debut album is co-produced
by Tim Goldsworthy of DFA. However with vocal contributions from Antony Hegarty
(of Antony & the Johnsons), a woman called Nomi whose own debut album Lost In
Lust was described as "Sade meets Wu-Tang Clan's RZA", and acid-house DJ/singer
Kim Ann, it sounds nothing DFA’s usual punk-funk.
Hercules and Love Affair make genuine late Seventies disco music. Redolent of
vintage 1977 dancefloor fillers the album never strays into camp or knowing
pastiche. The band are deadly serious about re-making and re-modelling the
joyousness that real disco music had in spades. They may be one of the most
striking acts to show up on the radar of late but they are in no way a triumph
of style over substance.
Antony Hegarty will not be appearing with Hercules and Love Affair
