Background Young Fathers formed back in 2008. But it took them a whole three years to release their first mixtape ‘Tape One’, which eventually led on to them being discovered by Los Angeles label Anitcon. Anitcon gave the mix tape a proper release in 2012 and shortly after ‘Tape Two’ was released.  They played more and more live shows and Young Fathers finally recorded their first full length album ‘DEAD’ which was released in February 2014. In late 2014, Young Fathers went on to win the Mercury Prize with their debut album. They beat of the likes of FKA Twigs, Damon Albarn and Kate Tempest to win the prestigious award.

Quote ”Theirs is music of uniqueness, flow and emotion, mining the darker end of the hip-hop spectrum” The Guardian

What Rescue Rooms says “We’re over the moon to have Young Fathers coming to perform here at Rescue Rooms. We liked them when they we’re still a bit under the radar, and for them to be able to go on and win the Mercury Prize is incredible. They really deserve it”.
